Turkish stock exchange opens Friday on high note

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Friday at 7,966.65 points, up by 0.62%, or 48.72 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended Thursday at 7,917.93 points, rising 0.14%, with a daily trading volume of 151 billion liras ($5.66 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.7140 as of 09.52 a.m. local time (0652GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.9603, while a British pound traded for 33.7972 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $87.00 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,965.85.
