Turkish stock exchange looking up at midweek open

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 8,275.14 points, up 0.40%, or 32.88 points, from previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Tuesday at 8,242.26, falling 0.75%, with a daily trading volume of 177 billion liras ($6.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.3007 as of 9.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.8774, and a British pound traded for 33.1851 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $92.97 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,916.10.
