Turkish stock exchange ends week with gains

ISTANBUL 

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,668.36 points, increasing by 1.33% or 127.06 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,542.75, slightly rising 1.45 points from the close on Thursday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,516.86, while the daily high was 9,677.59.

During the day, 77 indexes gained in value, while 22 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 107.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.76 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.82 trillion liras ($228.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.8360 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 43.2750, and the GBP/TRY traded at 51.4780.

The price of gold was $3,178.30 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.65.
