Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday in red

ISTANBUL 

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,224.84 points, down 0.88% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 9,272.47, the BIST 100 index fell 82.12 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,216.78, while the daily high was 9,312.18.

As many as 61 indexes lost in value, while 38 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 82.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.15 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.42 trillion liras ($219.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.4540 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 43.9125, and the GBP/TRY traded at 51.6000.

The price of gold was $3,309.20 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $63.65.
