Turkish stock exchange down at weekly close

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the week at 9,777.46 points on Friday, down 0.53% from the previous close.

After the BIST 100 index started the day at 9,814.69 points, it fell 51.73 points from Thursday’s close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,696.01, while its daily high was 9,820.48.

While 52 indices gained value during the day, 44 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 69 billion Turkish liras ($2.03 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.3 trillion liras ($243.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.1620 as of 6.40 p.m. local time (1540GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 38.1340 and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.7740.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,647.80, while the price of a barrel of Brent oil was around $71.05.
