Turkish stock exchange down at closing

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,907.38 points, down by 1.89% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,160.52 points, falling 191.12 points from Thursday’s close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,907.38, while its daily high was 10,189.15.

While 14 indices dropped during the day, 84 indices gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 83 billion Turkish liras ($2.46 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.34 trillion liras ($249.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.5290 as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.6660, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.8230.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,429.52, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $79.20.
