Turkish stock exchange down at close

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark BIST 100 stock index closed at 8,964.10 points on Thursday, down 1.84% from the previous day’s close.

The index started the trading day at 9,137.30 points and shed 168.19 points by the end of the session.

During the day, the BIST 100 hit a low of 8,964.10 points and a high of 9,146.16 points.

Out of all indexes, 18 recorded gains, while 81 saw declines.

The total transaction volume reached 66.96 billion Turkish liras ($1.96 billion), with the overall market capitalization of the index standing at 7.8 trillion liras ($228.5 billion).

By 6.18 pm (1518GMT), the Turkish lira stood at 34.2060 against the US dollar, 37.3765 against the euro, and 44.6480 against the British pound.

Gold prices hit $2,625.50 per ounce, and Brent crude was trading around $78.10 per barrel.
