Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday in the red

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,487.25 points, down 0.52% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 10,555.20, declined 54.84 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,487.25, while the daily high was 10,589.61.

A total of 67 indexes lost in value, while 31 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 85.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.11 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.7 trillion liras ($239.6 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 40.5345 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 46.8320, and the GBP/TRY traded at 54.1730.

The price of gold was $3,328.35 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $70.15.
