Turkish stock exchange closes Tuesday at record high

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock exchange hit an all-time high closing of 6,362.93 points on Tuesday, up 1.48% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 6,371.22 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 92.52 points compared to Monday’s close.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 6,234.51, while its daily high was 6,386.84, the highest ever.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 5.44 trillion Turkish liras ($208.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 133 billion Turkish liras ($5.09 billion).

During the day, 59 stocks on the index rose and 40 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,938.05, while Brent crude oil sold for around $79.42 per barrel as of 6.40 p.m. local time (1540GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.1280, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.7280, and the British pound traded at 33.6840 Turkish liras.
