Turkish stock exchange closes Thursday down

ISTANBUL 

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 9,810.94 points, down 0.50% from its previous close.

After starting the day at 9.839,83 , the BIST 100 fell 49.35 points from Wednesday’s close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,660.61, while the daily high was 10,156.71.

During the day, 57 indexes gained in value, while 40 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached all-time high of 228.1 billion Turkish liras ($6 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.78 trillion liras ($231.1 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 37.8560 as of 6.45 pm local time (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 41.1700, and the GBP/TRY traded at 49.0230.

The price of gold was $3,040.10 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $71.65.
