Turkish stock exchange closes lower to end 5-day gains streak

ANKARA

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index fell 0.33% to close Wednesday at 6,342.05 points, snapping a five-session streak of gains.

Starting the day at 4,956.26 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 64.44 points compared to the previous close.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 6,287.37, while its daily high was 6,410.61.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 5.4 trillion Turkish liras ($207.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 131 billion liras ($5 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,961.15, while Brent crude oil sold for around $80.20 per barrel as of 6.54 p.m. local time (1554GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.1512 and the euro/lira exchange rate was 29.1029, while the British pound traded at 33.9709 liras.
