Turkish stock exchange climbs over 1% at Tuesday’s close

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 14,202.24 points, up 1.02% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 14,170, the BIST 100 index gained 143.73 points from Monday’s close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 14,098.35, while the daily high was 14,356.18.

A total of 75 indexes gained value, while 25 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 237.6 billion Turkish liras ($5.31 billion), while the overall value of the index was 13.85 trillion liras ($310.4 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 44.7210 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 52.7895, and the GBP/TRY traded at 60.7435.

The price of gold was $4,800.65 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil futures was $96.22.
