Turkish stock exchange climbs 2% at Tuesday’s close

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 13,217.60 points, up 2.01% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 13,008.29, the BIST 100 index gained 260.88 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 12,994.76, while the daily high was 13,253.56.

As many as 82 indexes gained in value, while 17 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 127.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.87 billion), while the overall value of the index was 12.92 trillion liras ($292.95 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 44.2090 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 51.0115, and the GBP/TRY traded at 59.0550.

The price of gold was $5,011.60 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $99.15.
