Turkish stock exchange begins new week looking up

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index opened the new week on Monday at 9,139.11 points, increasing by 0.46% or 41.96 points versus the previous close.

At the previous close, the BIST 100 index fell by 1.66% to 9,097.15 points with a daily transaction volume of 109 billion Turkish liras ($3.47 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 31.4195 as of 10.20 a.m. (0720GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.0440, while the GBP/TRY rate was 39.7920.

One ounce of gold was for $2,093.85, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $83.50.
