Turkish stock exchange begins new week looking up

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index opened the new week on Monday at 9,363.89 points, increasing 2.28% or 228.57 points versus the previous close.

At the previous close, the BIST 100 index rose by 1.12% to 9,155.32 points with a daily transaction volume of 123 billion Turkish liras ($3.84 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 32.0005 as of 10.10 a.m. (0710GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.0920, while the GBP/TRY rate was 41.1340.

One ounce of gold was sold for $2,185.85, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $81.90.
