President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed late Friday Sweden and Finland’s accession bids.
According to a statement by the Communications Directorate, the developments regarding the two countries’ NATO membership process were discussed in detail in a phone call.
In the meeting, Erdogan stated that Finland differed positively from Sweden with its attitude during this process and stated that they decided to start the approval process of Finland’s NATO Accession Protocol in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Erdogan further said they are determined to continue the talks with Sweden in good faith, and the progress of process will be directly related to the concrete steps that Sweden will take.
