Turkish president meets Ukrainian parliament head in Ankara

ANKARA

Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday met with Ruslan Stefanchuk, the head of the Ukrainian parliament, in the capital Ankara, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate said.

No further information was provided about the meeting held at the presidential palace.

On Tuesday, Turkish Parliament President Numan Kurtulmus, and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Stefanchuk.

Reiterating his call for peace in Ukraine, during the talks, the Turkish parliament speaker emphasized Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

For his part, Stefanchuk emphasized the importance of strong parliamentary cooperation for good relations. He also thanked Türkiye for its efforts and contributions in a bid to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine, and highlighted common historical values between the two nations.

In March 2022, Türkiye hosted a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers in the Mediterranean city of Antalya.
