Türkiye-based prefabricated construction company Karmod has launched a social housing project in Libya, the company said in a statement.
The pilot installation of the project, located in the city of Misrata, has been completed.
Karmod General Manager Abdullah Yuceer said demand for prefabricated homes in Libya has been rising in recent months.
He pointed to the growing housing shortage in Libya, which has emerged from a years-long civil war that damaged residences and infrastructure.
“We are helping address this issue with our fast-production, secure housing models. The increasing demand for prefabricated homes stems from their rapid production and installation advantages compared to traditional housing models,” Yuceer said.
He said the Misrata project features a low-rise architectural design, with each two-story prefabricated building comprising two spacious apartments.
“The housing units were designed in accordance with the architectural characteristics of the region,” he said. “Each floor includes a three-bedroom apartment, with an overall area of 160 square meters per unit. A total of 34 houses will be built under the project.”
