Turkish Cuisine Week showcases Aegean flavors in Athens

ATHENS

A taste of Türkiye was brought to Greece as the capital city of Athens hosted a gastronomic event Tuesday night as part of international celebrations of Turkish Cuisine Week.

Guests enjoyed a lavish menu of traditional Turkish dishes from Türkiye’s western Aegean region at the annual event organized by the Turkish Embassy in Athens.

Turkish Ambassador Cagatay Erciyes said the event aims to create awareness about the historical and cultural past of Turkish cuisine besides giving people the opportunity to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine which is regarded among the healthiest in the world.

Top on the menu was Tarhana soup, stuffed green peppers, vegetable patties, gözleme, prawn guvec (casserole), Izmir kofte and fig pudding.

Among the distinguished guests were foreign diplomats, Greek state officials and journalists.
