Turkish firm Karmod produced a total of 190 tons of foam water tanks against factory fires at an industrial facility in southeastern Istanbul, according to a recent statement by the company.
Soner Kement, production manager at Karmod Plastics subsidiary, said that the water tanks were built in accordance with Turkish safety regulations for building fires, emphasizing that the foam water tanks provide safe solutions for industrial facilities, hotels, residential complexes, hospitals, schools, and social facility buildings.
Kement said Karmod produced and installed two 70-ton and one 50-ton foam water tanks at an industrial plant in the Tuzla district of Istanbul so far, and these tanks were put into service by being attached to the hydrant fire extinguishing system with hoses.
“We design our water tanks specifically for industrial facilities to be fully integrated with sprinkler systems, fire cabinets, and hydrant systems against fires, and the capacity of these tanks are measured according to the risk factors and the size of factories,” he said.
Kement mentioned that these tanks are designed with the regulation on building fires in mind, which determines the water flow rate and the volume of the tank based on hazard severity.
“We produce our foam water tanks for industrial plants specifically to be integrated to automatic systems positioned in a special compartment underground, as possible fires can be safely dealt with without being affected by fires, which the underground system allows,” he added.
