Turkish breakfast was introduced at the Turkish Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of World Breakfast Day.
The World Breakfast Day is a UNESCO-designated annual event, which takes place on the first Sunday in June.
Egyptian guests and foreign diplomats attended the breakfast event organized Sunday at the Turkish Embassy.
Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Sen said that breakfast is a significant meal in Turkish culture.
Sen noted that Turkish breakfast consists of meat products such as roasted meat, sausage and bacon, as well as rich and varied products such as jam, honey, olives, cheese, butter, yogurt, greens, vegetables, bagels and pastries.
People in Gaza deprived of food, shelter
Sen said that in Gaza, residents, including women and children, are unable to access food and shelter.
He noted that over 36,400 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s war in Gaza.
Palestinians who have been displaced are forced to live in tents or on the streets and sidewalks, he added.
They lack access to even basic healthcare facilities, he said.
‘Not possible to live humanely anywhere in Gaza’
Sen stressed that 70% of the houses in Gaza are unusable.
He said the Israel launched an attack on Rafah, a city in southern Gaza, when people were seeking shelter in a safe zone.
“Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to live like a human being and be safe anywhere in Gaza,” he said.
Sen underlined that Türkiye, together with Egypt, has not been indifferent to this human tragedy and has delivered tens of thousands of tons of food aid to Gaza since the beginning of the war.
After the US-built pier was destroyed aid material through sea route has stopped completely, he said. Therefore, opening the Rafah border crossing for humanitarian aid is essential, he added.
Vast tracts of Gaza lay in ruins amid Israel’s crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operation in Rafah, where more than 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war.
