Turkish benchmark stock index up at Friday’s open

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Friday at 7,677.78 points, up by 0.21% or 15.73 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 7,662.05 points, soaring by 3.19%, with a daily trading volume of 139 billion liras ($4.95 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.1760 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.7770 and a British pound traded for 34.1475 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $59.05 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,998.35.
