Turkish-Azerbaijani ties reaffirmed at 13th Annual Baklava Festival

ISTANBUL

World famous Turkish baklava was at the center of Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship at the 13th Annual Baklava Festival held in Baku.

The opening ceremony of the festival organized by the Baklava and Dessert Producers Association (BAKTAD) was attended by the Turkish Embassy in Baku, executives and members of BAKTAD along with many citizens.

In his speech at the opening of the event, BAKTAD President Mehmet Yildirim said that they were pleased to come together in Baku for the 13th Annual Baklava Festival.

Emphasizing that the festival carries a much bigger message beyond baklava, Yildirim said, “Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two friendly and brotherly countries connected not only by borders but also by hearts. This festival offers a unique opportunity to further strengthen this bond and to introduce our common culture to the whole world.”

At the festival, which was attended by a delegation of 100 people from Türkiye, including the leading brand representatives of the sector, 60 types of desserts unique to Türkiye, including pistachio, walnut, mussel and cold baklava, were exhibited. From Azerbaijan, 10 different types of desserts, especially Baku, Gebele and Sheki baklava, were introduced.
