Türkiye’s ambassador to the UK on Tuesday accepted the 2024 Diplomat of the Year award for the Eurasia and Western Balkans region.

Osman Koray Ertas thanked embassy and consulate general staff at a ceremony that took place in London as part of the 14th IHG DIPLOMAT of the Year Awards, with the attendance of diplomats from over 90 nations.

At the event, DIPLOMAT magazine presented 10 awards to some of the most influential diplomats based in the UK, recognizing the “outstanding work and achievements” of London’s diplomatic community.

“This is an award ceremony for diplomats, with winners chosen by diplomats. This evening is about hard work and technique. It’s about people and professionalism,” said Venetia de Blocq van Kuffeler, the magazine’s editor.

Ertas has been Türkiye’s ambassador to the UK since March 14, 2023. He also served as the country’s ambassador to Romania in 2014-2019.
