Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron met Monday on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Brussels.

Following the 52-minute-long meeting, Macron said on Twitter that he had a “long one-to-one exchange” with Erdogan “to move forward with clarity, respect and exigency.”

Macron’s office said the two leaders discussed the need to work together on addressing problems in Syria and Libya during the closed-door meeting.

The Turkish leader also met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and is due to meet his US counterpart Joe Biden.
