Trump plans new trade tariffs, targets steel and aluminum

US President Donald Trump said he will announce a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports entering the country on Monday, according to a CNN report.

The announcement follows Trump’s recent decision to impose a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to the NFL Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Trump also said he would unveil a set of reciprocal tariffs later in the week, aiming to match other nations’ trade policies toward US goods.

During his previous administration, he introduced similar tariffs on steel and aluminum in 2018 but later lifted them for Canada and Mexico.
