Tottenham and AC Milan took over as leaders of the English Premier League and Italian Serie A, respectively.
The reigning champions Manchester City lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League, while Inter Milan drew 2-2 with Bologna in Serie A.
Tottenham new leader of Premier League
Tottenham became the new English Premier League leader after reigning champions Manchester City failed to win in week 8.
In the most important match of week 8, Arsenal defeated Manchester City 1-0, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring in the 86th minute. Manchester City, which have not won any points in the last two league matches despite starting the season with 6 out of 6 wins, lost the top spot in the league.
Tottenham beat Luton Town 1-0 with Micky van de Ven’s goal in the 52nd minute and became the new leader of the league standings. Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma received a red card in the 49th minute.
Liverpool drew 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion. Liverpool’s goals were netted by Mohamed Salah, in the 40th and 46th minutes. Simon Adingra in the 20th minute and Lewis Dunk in the 78th minute netted the goals for Brighton.
Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton, while Manchester United, one of Galatasaray’s rivals in the UEFA Champions League Group A, beat Brentford 2-1.
In the Premier League, among the teams with 20 points, Tottenham are the leader with a goal difference, while Arsenal placed second. Manchester City lay at the third spot with 18 points, Liverpool are fourth with 17 points, and Aston Villa and Brighton placed fifth and sixth, respectively, both with 16 points each.
Barcelona lose points in La Liga
In week 9 of the Spanish La Liga, leaders Real Madrid beat Osasuna 4-0, with goals from Jude Bellingham in the 9th and 54th minutes, Vinicius Junior in the 65th minute, and Joselu in the 70th minute.
Barcelona were held to a surprising 2-2 draw by Granada. Lamine Yamal netted the first goal for the Spanish powerhouse, becoming the youngest player to score in La Liga history at the age of 16 years and 87 days.
Girona beat Cadiz 1-0, while Atletico Madrid beat Real Sociedad 2-1.
Real Madrid are at the top of La Liga with 24 points, followed by Girona with 22, Barcelona with 21, and Atletico Madrid with 19.
AC Milan new leaders in Serie A
In Italian Serie A, Inter Milan, which gained a 2-0 lead against Bologna, could not keep their lead and settled for a 2-2 draw. The Milan side lost their place at the top spot after the draw.
AC Milan became the new Serie A leaders by defeating Genoa 1-0 with Christian Pulisic’s goal in the 87th minute.
Juventus beat Torino 2-0, while the reigning champions Napoli lost 3-1 to Fiorentina.
At the end of week 8 of Serie A, Milan led with 21 points, followed by Inter with 19, and Juventus and Fiorentina, both with 17 points each.
Leverkusen maintain lead in Bundesliga
Bayer Leverkusen, which entered the week 7 of the German Bundesliga as the leaders, won three points with a 3-0 victory against Cologne and maintained their lead.
Bayern Munich, which compete with Galatasaray in Group A of the UEFA Champions League, beat Freiburg 3-0, with Kingsley Coman (2) and Leroy Sane’s goals.
Stuttgart beat Wolfsburg 3-1 at home, while Borussia Dortmund defeated Union Berlin 4-2.
In the Bundesliga, undefeated Bayer Leverkusen lead with 19 points, followed by Stuttgart with 18 points, and Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, with 17 points each.
Monaco at top of Ligue 1
In week 8 of the French Ligue 1, Monaco maintained their place at the top by beating their guest Reims 3-1.
Nice beat Metz with a single goal, while the reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the away match against Rennes 3-1 and Brest drew 1-1 with Toulouse.
In the Ligue 1, Monaco are the leaders with 17 points, Nice placed second with 16 points, PSG are in the third spot and Brest are at the fourth, both with 15 points each.
