ISTANBUL
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday discussed bilateral ties and developing integration processes in Latin America with his Bolivian counterpart Rogelio Mayta in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
“The parties reaffirmed the course towards the comprehensive strengthening of multifaceted Russian-Bolivian ties. Particular attention is paid to key aspects of expanding bilateral political dialogue and cooperation in international affairs. Issues of interaction in the trade, economic and investment spheres were discussed,” a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry read.
The statement said that Lavrov, who is on a regional tour, and Mayta underlined the commitment of their countries to “upholding the central role of the UN and the principles of international law,” noting that they also touched upon issues related to the current development of integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting of the two ministers comes as Lavrov arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday, the second stop in his Latin America tour, which is scheduled to last until Friday and will include visits to Nicaragua and Cuba.
