The Case Filed By U.S. Women’s National Team Players with The Demand of “Equal Pay” Has Been Concluded

NEW YORK, NY

Judge R. Gary Klausner stated in his decision that the American Football Federation proved the claim that the Women’s National Team players earned more money per game than male footballers. In the reasoned decision of the dismissed case, it was reported that the reasons given by the lawyers of women footballers to the court on the grounds of inequality of wages were insufficient.

Lawyers who followed the case on behalf of the Women’s National Team announced that they would appeal against the decision. It was stated that female footballers had more encounters during the period of 2015-2019, and therefore, their per game and total wages in the national team were higher than men.

It was noted that this difference was also caused by the guarantee fees received in accordance with the agreement of the actresses union with the federation. On the other hand, the court ruled on the continuation of the judicial process on equality in working conditions such as travel and training.

The 28 women national team players who filed a lawsuit against the US Football Federation in March 2019 requested a $ 66 million compensation from the federation as required by the “equal pay law”. The US Women’s National Team, consisting of stars such as Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, has been the champion in the last two World Cups in 2015 and 2019.
