Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday held a meeting in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, to discuss bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.
According to a report by Radio Pakistan, the two sides held in-depth, wide-ranging discussions covering various sectors such as politics, trade and economy, energy, defense, security, and regional connectivity.
Both the leaders committed to actively exploring new opportunities for collaboration, emphasizing investment growth, improving educational ties, encouraging cultural exchanges, promoting IT partnerships, and deepening people-to-people connections.
They acknowledged the increasing bilateral cooperation in defense and security and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen it to address the shared security challenges faced by both countries, according to the report.
Sharif is on a two-day visit to Tajikistan as the last leg of his 4-nation tour. He also attended the International High-Level Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
