Swedish prosecutor asks to extradite PKK terror suspect to Türkiye ‘There is strong evidence

STOCKHOLM

A Swedish prosecutor asked a court Tuesday that a suspect, who was arrested for terror activities, be extradited to Türkiye, according to media reports.

The suspect, who collected money for the PKK/YPG terror group, is also facing charges for “financing terrorism”, “attempted extortion” and “armed assault,” said Swedish public radio broadcaster, SR.

“The PKK is accused of collecting money in Sweden via threat. This is part of a broader series of activities organized for a long time. There is strong evidence that the suspect was working for the PKK,” said prosecutor Hans Ihrman, who prepared the bill of indictment.

Ihrman requested five years in prison for the suspect and extradition to Türkiye.

The verdict will be announced July 7.

Public television SVT said the suspect was arrested in January for collecting money for PKK by armed threat in a restaurant.
