SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, will stop its operations in Germany and focus on touristic and domestic flights in Turkey, it said on Tuesday.
The carrier will unite all its fleet under one air operator certificate to strengthen its position in Turkey, a press release by the airlines, said.
Max Kownatzki, the CEO of the carrier, said: “With shareholders of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, we decided to join all forces on our Turkey operations as the main carrier of Antalya and Izmir.”
SunExpress will continue to support Turkey’s aviation and tourism sectors, he added.
