Stage 5 of 60th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye cancelled due to severe weather

MUGLA, Türkiye

Stage 5 of the 60th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye – the Marmaris to Aydin leg – was cancelled Thursday due to severe weather.

“Due to worsening weather conditions and heavy rain, the stage was cancelled to ensure the safety of the cyclists,” the Tour of Türkiye Organizing Committee said in a statement.

The committee said that the referee committee, along with team and athlete representatives, met and made the decision.

The eight-day race will continue Friday with stage 6, the Selcuk-Selcuk stage.

Wout Poels of XDS Astana currently is leading general classification with a time of 14 hours, 26 minutes and 30 seconds, taking the “turquoise jersey” from Tibor Del Gross of Team Alpecin-Deceuninck.
