Spanish Premier Sanchez reaches China on 4th such trip

ISTANBUL

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday began his four-day official visit to China, local media reported.

The visit that will be concluded on April 15 marks his fourth visit to China in four years, Spanish media outlet Le Mundo reported.

Sanchez is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.

The visit focuses on bolstering economic ties, enhancing strategic mutual trust, and deepening cooperation in sectors such as technology, trade, and green energy.

Bilateral trade between Spain and China reached $50.1 billion in 2024.

The visit comes at a time when European and Asian economies are seeking to stabilize supply chains and diversify partnerships, with both Madrid and Beijing signaling interest in maintaining steady diplomatic and economic engagement.
