Spanish forward Joselu joins Real Madrid on loan

ISTANBUL

Jose Luis Mato Sanmartin, known as Joselu, has moved to Real Madrid from Espanyol on a season-long loan.

“Real Madrid and Espanyol de Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Joselu, who will play for the club for the next season, with an option to buy at the end of the season,” Real Madrid said in a statement on Monday.

Joselu joined Los Blancos’ youth academy at the age of 20, and made his first-team debut in 2011.

The Spanish international, 33, helped his nation win the 2023 Nations League, and has scored three goals in four appearances.

The striker has also represented Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96, Stoke City, Deportivo La Coruna, Newcastle United, and Alaves.
