Prosecutors on Thursday indicted former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of abuse of power during his short-lived December declaration of martial law, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.

The indictment is in addition to an ongoing trial on insurrection charges, brought against Yoon over his botched martial law bid on Dec. 3.

The latest indictment is without arrest.

Yoon was removed from office by the country’s Constitutional Court earlier this month, which upheld his impeachment by the National Assembly.

If the insurrection charges are proven in court, he could face a life term in jail or even capital punishment.
