Ruud, Gauff advance to French Open 2nd round

ISTANBUL

Casper Ruud and Coco Gauff advanced Tuesday to second round of the French Open.

Ruud, the 2022 men’s finalist, won in straight sets against his 155th seeded opponent Elias Ymer from Sweden — 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

Seventeenth-ranked Tommy Paul beat Dominic Stephan Stricker while no. 22 Alexander Zverev defeated Lloyd George Harris in straight sets.

Gauff, the sixth ranked female player in the world and 2022 tournament finalist, eliminated Rebeka Masarova in three sets, 3-6, 6-1 and 6-2, to move to the next round.

​​​​​​​Ons Jabeur advanced to the second round after beating Lucia Bronzetti in straight sets — 6-4 and 6-1.
