Russian and Chinese foreign ministers met in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent on Thursday, according to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Sergei Lavrov’s meeting with Wang Yi took place on the sidelines of the “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity – Challenges and Opportunities” international conference that both ministers attended.
Views were exchanged on essential issues including global, regional matters, international data security, the Iran nuclear deal as well as the latest developments in the Central Asia and Pacific Rim.
They also addressed the situation in Afghanistan and confirmed that endeavors of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Afghanistan Contact Group will be supported.
The ministers agreed to continue coordination in international platforms.
