‘Russian attacks strengthen our support for Ukraine’: Croatian prime minister

BELGRADE, Serbia

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Thursday that Russia’s increased air attacks against Ukraine encourage Croatia to strengthen its support for Ukraine.

“Russia targeted civilian infrastructure in Ukraine … Russia’s attacks strengthen our support for Ukraine,” Plenkovic said.

The Russian airstrikes, especially on Kyiv and Kharkiv, were against the “rules of international humanitarian law,” he added.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Russia used nearly 300 missiles and over 200 drones to target various parts of Ukraine since Dec. 29. Since then, at least 32 people have been killed in Kyiv alone, according to official figures.

Croatia, a member of the EU, is among the countries that have supported Ukraine since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine War.

Croatia is also among the first countries to impose sanctions against Russia.
