MOSCOW
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Wednesday that Russia supports “any US presidential candidate” who advocates for ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Zakharova expressed gratitude to all those who support conflict resolution and offered thanks to anyone who promotes peaceful solutions.
“We extend our gratitude to all those who, irrespective of their position — whether official, representative of civil society or politician — advocate for, and sometimes propose options aimed at a peaceful, political and diplomatic resolution to the situation in Ukraine,” she said in response to an Anadolu question at a news conference in Moscow. “This has always been Russia’s stance on crises in various regions throughout history.”
She referenced recent remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a news conference on Oct. 24 where he noted the importance of focusing on concrete actions rather than election rhetoric alone.
Zakharova reiterated: “We are truly grateful to all those who speak of peace, who promote these approaches in public forums. This commitment to peace represents a form of normality, which many in the West, unfortunately, have chosen to abandon.”
