Russia says hydrocarbon exports to China remain stable despite sanctions

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow’s hydrocarbon supplies to China have remained stable and consistent with last year’s figures despite Western sanctions.

In an interview aired on broadcaster Rossiya-1 on Monday, Novak stated that 72 million tons of oil were delivered to China in the first nine months of this year, while gas exports increased by 31%. He added that the Power of Siberia pipeline will reach its full design capacity of 38 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025.

He emphasized that cooperation in the energy sector remains “strategically important” for both countries despite external pressure.

Energy cooperation between Russia and China has expanded in recent years through long-term contracts and infrastructure projects, including the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which supplies eastern China with natural gas.
