Russia said on Monday that two people were killed and at least six injured in Ukrainian attacks, while Kyiv reported 14 people wounded in Russian strikes.
An employee of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) was killed in a Ukrainian drone strike, the facility’s press service said in a statement.
“Today, as a result of a strike by an UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the transport workshop of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, a driver was killed,” the plant’s channel on Max said.
The ZNPP described the death as an irreplaceable loss, causing great grief. They emphasized that the family of the deceased will receive all necessary assistance and support.
“Employees of the nuclear industry should not become targets. Any attacks on the Zaporizhzhia NPP are a threat not only to people but to security in general. A strike on life and on the future,” the statement added.
Ukraine’s armed forces continue to attack the territory of the Belgorod region, where one person was killed and six other injured over the past 24 hours, the region’s special task force reported on its Telegram channel.
Oleh Kiper, governor of Ukraine’s Odesa region, said 14 people were injured in overnight Russian strikes.
Both sides also reported oil leaks from damaged vessels in the Black Sea.
In the Russian city of Tuapse, 4,165 cubic meters of soil contaminated with petroleum products and a water-fuel oil mixture have been collected following the spill caused by a Ukrainian drone attack, the Kuban operational headquarters reported.
Containment booms have been installed along the central beach to prevent the oil slick from spreading into the sea.
In Ukraine, an oil spill was recorded near the Port of Chernomorsk.
In a separate statement, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces had taken control of the settlements of Taratutyne in the Sumy region and Ozerne in the Donetsk region.
Claims by both sides could not be independently verified due to the ongoing conflict.
