MOSCOW (AA) – Russia on Wednesday said its Soyuz-2.1v light carrier rocket delivered a military satellite to the orbit.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the launch was carried out from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome spaceport, located near the city of Mirny in Arkhangelsk region, some 800 kilometers (497 miles) north of Moscow.

This is the 19th launch of a Russian rocket in 2023 and seventh from Plesetsk. The last one was on Dec. 21 when a medium-class Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket launched a military satellite into orbit.
