Russia announces end of Pacific Fleet combat drill

MOSCOW

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday the end of the Pacific Fleet combat readiness check that started on April 14.

The ministry said in a statement that the inspection confirmed “high readiness of the Pacific Fleet to solve the problems of repelling the aggression of a likely enemy from ocean and sea directions.”

Over 25,000 military personnel, 89 planes and helicopters, 167 ships, including 12 submarines, took part in the event.

According to the ministry, training skills of the armed forces to repel the aggression of a potential enemy from ocean and sea directions was the main goal of the inspection.
