Roy Hodgson appointed manager of Crystal Palace until end of season

ISTANBUL

Roy Hodgson has been appointed manager of Crystal Palace until the end of the season, Crystal Palace confirmed on Tuesday.

“It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team’s fortunes around,” Roy Hodgson said after the signing ceremony. “Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.”

English football club added that Paddy McCarthy will take the role as an assistant manager, Ray Lewington will return as first-team coach and Dean Kiely will remain in his position as goalie coach.

Hodgson previously managed several European clubs such as Inter Milan, Liverpool, Udinese, Fulham, Blackburn Rovers, West Bromwich Albion, and Grasshoppers.

The 75-year-old also led England, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and Finland national teams.

On Friday, Crystal Palace dismissed French manager Patrick Vieira after a 12-match winless run.

Crystal Palace are 12th with 27 points in 28 English Premier League matches.

However, Crystal Palace did not disclose any detail about his contract.
