ANKARA, TURKEY
Turkey’s president on Saturday conveyed warm wishes to the Jewish community on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
“I wish peace be upon all Jewish people, especially our citizens, on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, one of the most important religious holidays of Judaism,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a message.
Rosh Hashanah is being observed from Sept. 18 to Sept. 20 this year, according to the Hebrew calendar.
“Special days, when our citizens of different faiths observe their own culture and traditions freely, add color to our social life and make our ancient friendship and togetherness even stronger,” President Erdogan said.
He termed social, cultural, political, and human diversity as the “most important wealth that strengthens unity and solidarity in these lands, which are the symbol of the civilization of love and tolerance.”
