ISTANBUL

Real Betis came from behind to beat Villarreal 2-1 away Monday, moving into third place in La Liga and pushing their hosts into the relegation zone.

Villarreal took the lead in the 29th minute when Gerard Moreno finished cleverly after Renato Veiga headed the ball down inside the penalty area.

Real Betis responded 10 minutes later as Cucho Hernandez fired a low shot into the net after the ball fell to him inside the box to make it 1-1.

The visitors completed the comeback just four minutes later. Natan collected a loose ball inside the area and sent a low effort inside the right post to put Betis 2-1 ahead.

Neither side could find another goal in the second half as Real Betis held on for all three points.

The victory lifted Betis to third in the La Liga standings, while Villarreal remained in the relegation zone.
