Raheem Sterling carried the 10-men Chelsea to a crucial victory against Leicester City in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea fans’ hopes about the game started to fade as their defender Conor Gallagher was sent off with second yellow card in the 28th minute.

At the beginning of the second half, new signing Raheem Sterling greeted the Stamford Bridge audience with his maiden goal for Chelsea in the 47th minute.

Just four minutes later, Sterling was unlucky as he aimed the ball to the bottom crossbar but his luck turned in the 62nd minute as he netted his second goal.

Three minutes later, Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes’ quick response in kind gave hope to their fans, but many chances were wasted by Vardy and other Foxes’ players and the game ended 2-1.

It marked a vital victory for Chelsea as in addition to playing most of the game with 10 men, the Blues also played without their manager in the bench as Thomas Tuchel served his one-match touchline suspension in the game.

A London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham on Aug. 14 ended in a confrontation between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte, with both managers given red cards.

Chelsea is placed sixth with seven points, while Leicester City sit 19th with one point in the Premier League standings.
