Qatar was targeted by seven ballistic missiles and “a number of drones” launched from Iran, the Qatari Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
Qatari forces “successfully intercepted and neutralized” all incoming missiles and drones, the ministry said in a statement posted on the US social media platform X.
The attack came after the United States and Iran announced a two-week truce on Tuesday aimed at paving the way for a final agreement to end a war launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran that has left thousands dead and wounded.
Iran has responded to US-Israeli strikes that began Feb. 28 with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. It has also restricted ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz.
