Portugal maintained their perfect start to the UEFA Nations League with a 2-1 comeback victory over Norway on Sunday, making it four wins from four in League A Group 4.
Norway took the lead in the 36th minute through Kristoffer Ajer, who controlled Martin Odegaard’s forward free kick before firing a right-footed strike from outside the box into the top-left corner.
Portugal responded just two minutes later as Joao Cancelo collected a loose ball on the edge of the area and struck a powerful effort into the top-right corner to make it 1-1.
The hosts completed the comeback in the 79th minute. Vitinha picked out Joao Felix at the back post, and the forward squared the ball for Goncalo Ramos to finish from close range.
Norway striker Erling Haaland was kept quiet by Portugal, failing to hit the target with either of his two shots before being replaced by Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 67th minute
Portugal ended the match with 10 men after Francisco Conceicao received two yellow cards in quick succession in the 86th minute.
The victory moved Portugal to 12 points from four matches, extending their perfect start despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the national team camp earlier in the week.
Denmark moved into second place in Group 4 with six points after beating Wales 1-0 away.
Rasmus Hojlund scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 75th minute after Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward fouled Gustav Isaksen inside the area.
Norway and Wales remain on three points.
Netherlands beat Serbia as Greece hold Germany
The Netherlands earned a 2-1 home victory over Serbia in League A Group 2, with substitute Joshua Zirkzee scoring the winner.
Teun Koopmeiners put the Dutch ahead in the 31st minute when his free kick from the right went through the penalty area and found the bottom corner.
Serbia responded four minutes later through Mihajlo Cvetkovic, who headed Aleksa Terzic’s cross into the far corner to send the teams into halftime level at 1-1.
Zirkzee, introduced at the break, restored the Netherlands’ lead in the 71st minute, tapping into an empty net after Tijjani Reijnders sent Denzel Dumfries’ low cross back across the six-yard box.
In the group’s other match, leaders Greece and Germany played out a goalless draw.
Germany thought they had taken the lead through Jonathan Burkardt in the 32nd minute, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review for a handball in the build-up.
The result left Greece and the Netherlands level on eight points. Germany have five points, while Serbia remain without a point.
